Planning for Your Child’s Future

While we trust in Allah’s plan, it is also our responsibility to prepare our children for the future by instilling strong values and skills.

Islamic Education: Prioritise Islamic education first and foremost. Enroll your child in Quran classes, Islamic studies, and other religious activities to strengthen their faith and understanding. Islam is a way of life and as such, we should teach our children to always act and interact with other fully aware of Allah’s presence.

Education and Skills: Provide secular education and encourage critical thinking. Encourage your child’s academic and personal development. Provide opportunities for them to learn new skills and pursue their interests, particularly in areas that will benefit the ummah or where it will become a legacy onto you.

Setting Goals: Help your child set realistic and meaningful goals. Guide them in planning and working towards these goals with determination and perseverance.

Surrendering to Allah: Encourage your children to make plans and to always try their absolute best. Teach them that life does not always go according to our plans and that is ok. Guide them to have absolute trust in Allah and His plan, for Allah is the best of planners. You can guide them in this by telling them your own real life events and stories.

Teaching Financial Responsibility

Teaching children financial responsibility is crucial for their independence and future well-being.

Basic Money Management: Introduce basic concepts of money management, such as saving, budgeting, and spending wisely. Use practical examples and involve them in simple financial decisions (i.e., Zakat ul-Fitr).

Earning and Saving: Encourage your child to earn money through part-time jobs, or entrepreneurial activities, in appropriate areas and once they are old enough. Teach them the importance of saving a portion of their earnings for future needs.
